Dear Parents,

It’s that time of year when the earth is bursting with new energy. The days are warming and growing longer. It’s Spring! With all that renewed life and growth around them, our children can’t help but feel the same. And while their exhuberance is a joy to watch, it is also difficult for some of them to control.

At this time of year, we always see an increase in the number of students who don’t complete classroom and homework assignments. They want to be outside playing. They have played inside all winter. Please continue to support your child’s education by making sure all classroom and homework is being completed. Just like you have to work before you receive a paycheck, students have to work before getting to play.

We also see an increase in the number of students who throw inappropriate objects. Please remind your child of the dangers of throwing rocks, sticks, sand, dirt, etc. They could hurt someone or be hurt by someone who throws something back at them. Additionally, we see more of other types of misbehavior, but this is usually the most potentially harmful.

We have study trips planned in May for all grade levels. By working hard and playing safely, students will earn the privilege of participating. It is always unfortunate when a child has to be left at school because of misbehavior or failure to complete work. Please help us prevent this from happening to your child.

Finally, please make sure your child does not come to school before the allowable times listed below, as there is no supervision on the playground where problems often begin.
7:00 students who attend morning math intervention
7:30 students who eat breakfast may go to the cafeteria ONLY
7:45 all students may go to the playground and meet their friends
This is a time to walk and talk on the asphalt, but not get involved in games, or especially not to wrestle and rough play.

With your reminders at home about working hard, playing safely and our continued efforts at Barbara Webster to provide every student with the best possible instruction, we will have a successful end of the year.

Estimados Padres,

Se ha llegado el tiempo del año en el cual la tierra esta estallando con nueva energia. Los dias se estan calentando y empezando hacer mas largos. Es primavera! Con toda la vida y crecimiento alrededor de ellos, nuestros niños tambien se sienten igual. Y mientras su entusiasmo es un placer ver, tambien podria ser difícil controlar.

Durante esta epoca del año, vemos siempre un aumento en el numero de los estudiantes que no terminan el trabajo durante clase y tarea. Prefieren estar afuera jugando. Es por que durante el invierno jugaron adentro. Por favor continue apoyando la educación de su hijo/a asegurando que todo el trabajo en clase y en casa sea completado. Haci como uno tiene que trabajar para recibir un cheque, estudiantes deben de trabajar antes de jugar.

Tambien vemos un aumento en el numero de estudiantes que lanzan y tiran objetos inadecuados. Por favor recuerde a su hijo/a de lo peligroso que es aventar piedras, palos, tierra, etc. Pueden lastimar a otra persona o ser lastimados por otra persona que les quiera aventar algo para tras. Adicionalmente, tambien vemos otros malcomportamientos, pero este es el mas peligroso.

Tenemos viajes de estudio planeados durante el mes de Mayo para todos los grados. Trabajando y jugando con precaucion los estudiantes ganaran el privilejio de poder participar. Diario es triste que un estudiante no pueda participar y se tenga que quedar en la escuela por mal comportamiento o por no completar el trabajo. Por favor ayudenos a prevenir que esto le pase a su hijo/a.

Finalmente, asegure que su hijo/a no venga a la escuela antes de el tiempo designado, debido ha que no hay supervisión en el patio de recreo donde los problemas empiezan.
7:00 Para los estudiantes que participan en la clase de intervención por la mañana.
7:30 Estudiantes que gusten desayunar, pueden entrar a la cafeteria solamente.
7:45 Todos los estudiantes pueden pasar a el patio de recreo para juntarse con sus amigos/as. Este es un tiempo donde pueden caminar, hablar en el cemento, pero no de empezar un juego, especialmente luchando o jugando agresivamente.

Con ustedes recordando a sus hijos en casa de la importancia de seguir trabajando, jugando cuidadosamente y con nuestro esfuerzos en Barbara Webster para proveer a todos los estudiantes con la mejor educación posible, tendremos un exitoso fin del año.
